2024 Guilford Gifted Scholarship

Guilford Gifted is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization supporting our community’s brightest young minds with strong advocacy for the advancement of gifted education. We provide the tools to engage and empower all those involved with gifted children, thereby building tomorrow’s leaders today.


We proudly announce that 2024 will be the inaugural year of the annual Guilford Gifted Scholarship award! 


Eligibility - An applicant must: 

  • Be the dependent child of a Guilford Gifted member, registered for 2023-24. A “dependent child” is a biological child, stepchild, legally adopted child living in the member’s household, or a child primarily supported by the member. 
  • Be a high school senior and resident of Guilford County.
  • Be an advanced learner who has/will complete a minimum of 5 high-level high school classes.  “High-level classes” may be classified as Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and/or dual-enrolled college courses. 
  • Hold a minimum of 3.5 average on a 4.0 scale. 
  • Be planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year. 


Considerations

  • Financial need is not a factor.
  • Award is granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.
  • Up to 2 awards of $500.00 each will be granted. 


Criteria - The 2024 Guilford Gifted Scholarship is now live! You can apply today! Each applicant must submit:

  • A completed electronic application.
  • A 500 minimum word essay. 
  • Topic: Failure is difficult for everyone and can be especially difficult for advanced learners. Describe a time you have failed, how you dealt with it, and what you learned. 
  • An electronic copy of the applicant's unofficial transcript, including final grades for the most recent fall semester. 
  • A description of any extracurriculars, talents, leadership opportunities, community involvement, and/or volunteerism. 
  • ACT/SAT scores (optional)


Application Deadline - June 1, 2024: The 2024 application deadline is Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 5:00 PM Eastern time. All application materials, including letters of reference, must be submitted by the deadline.


Announcement - The award winner will be notified on or before June 3, 2024. Funds will be disbursed to the college of choice.


*Guilford Gifted will take a photo of the recipient to share with our membership and to help support fundraising efforts.
