The Mission of Guilford Gifted

Guilford Gifted is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization supporting our community’s brightest young minds with strong advocacy for the advancement of gifted education. We provide the tools to engage and empower all those involved with gifted children, thereby building tomorrow’s leaders today.

PAGE stands for Partners for the Advancement of Gifted Education. We are an affiliate of the North Carolina Association for Gifted & Talented (NCAGT).


WHO ARE WE?

Here is some information about the board of directors of Guilford Gifted.


Angela Olalere - President

Angela Olalere serves as President for Guilford Gifted. Angela is a Family Nurse Practitioner and has been a nurse for 20 years. Angela and her family moved to Greensboro in 2019 from Western PA. She enjoys tennis and traveling with her family. Angela has involvement with Summerfield Elementary, Northern Middle School, Page High School, and the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics.

Stephen Adekunle - Treasurer

Stephen is the treasurer of the Guilford Gifted Board. Stephen and his family have lived in Greensboro for several years. Stephen is currently working in the financial industry in the Business Risk & Control group. He enjoys time with family, traveling, and volunteering in his spare time. Stephen is involved with STEM Early College and Pilot Elementary.

Kate Young Maffeo- Secretary

Kate a lifelong resident of the Carolinas, attended Alamance Elementary, Southeast

Middle, and Southeast High School. Kate has spent the past decade in state regulation,

and currently serves as the Assistant Executive Director of the North Carolina Board of

Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists. Kate remains involved

with Alamance Elementary and looks forward to her twin’s time at Southeast Middle

School. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis and is currently learning Vietnamese.

Carolyn Cheriyan - Webmaster

Carolyn Cheriyan is serving as the webmaster for Guilford Gifted. She received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Spanish Education from West Virginia University in 2010.  She owns a digital marketing company and also teaches English as a Second Language virtually. Her family moved to the Greensboro area in 2016.  She enjoys going on adventures with her husband and daughters, painting with watercolors, and volunteering in the community. Carolyn supports gifted students at Gibsonville Elementary School and in the homeschool community.

Regina Razon- Membership

Regina is supporting membership for Guilford Gifted. She earned BS and MS degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Carnegie Mellon and Lehigh Universities, respectively. Her family moved to Greensboro in 2015. She is involved with Jones Elementary and Kiser Middle.

Kara French - AG Liaison

Kara is serving as the Liaison between Guilford Gifted and the Guilford County Schools Central AG Department. Kara is a graduate of the old Greensboro City Schools, having attended Bessemer, Joyner, Mendenhall, and Page. She and her husband moved back to the area in 2000. Kara has a BS and MS in Industrial Engineering from NC State University and serves as the Director of Facilities for an organization in downtown Greensboro. She also is a licensed General Contractor and homebuilder. Kara enjoys reading, running, and dreaming of her next family travel adventure. Kara is affiliated with Sternberger Elementary.
